9th Annual Golf Outing

The 9th Annual Golf Outing for Mr.U's dad was this past weekend.
A bunch of people came into town for the event
and all the guys who golfed brought their girlfriends to hang out.
We had mimosa's while the boys played then picked them up for the banquet.
After a day of drinking on the course, they were pretty silly.
Overall, it was a great weekend in memory of a great man.

Coach Horv

Joe's buddy Horv is a varsity boy's basketball coach for a neighboring town, so we went to support him when they came to play Joe's alma mater. Horv was completely in the zone throughout the entire game. We cheered&yelled his name from behind him, but he focused intensely on his players - who seemed relatively impressive from what I remember of high school students. In the end, his team won (which we wanted) and it was very nostalgic&fun to wander back into a high school gym for an evening. It made me feel really old, which kind of sucked ...all at once it feels like 1-year-ago and 100-years-ago to be an excited high school student screaming for the cute basketball players. I guess I hadn't thought too hard about my age till I found myself in bleachers full of 16-year-old with painted faces and youthful giggles. Makes me remember (like most things do these days) to live every day to the fullest, because life is flying by me.

Elton

Elton john at joe Louis arena
Sadly, my companions were either drunk or silent (as per usual) but I still loved the show. I probably most enjoyed chatting with Bunni's dad over his excitement for me to see Elton just like he had in the 70's. He may not have been the most active performer, but he belted out those classics & brought me right back to my youth and the memories of my dad singing Your Song to me on long road trips. The stage was sweet - the lights at the back changed constantly and sometimes turned into different images and we were lucky to be on the side where Elton's piano was, so our view was great considering the cheap ticket price.
Elton, you enchanted me.

Florida Vacation

I love Florida.
I know some people probably think that a "big vacation"
to Florida isn't very exciting,
but I've missed the sunshine state since I left two years ago,
so I jumped at the opportunity
to go back to the resort I'd taken Bunni to in 2008
and take Joe to Disney World for the first time.
Though there was quite a bit of rain
at random times throughout the week
we definitely enjoyed pools&bars&amusmentparks.
We made friends with one of the resort bartenders
after spending three nights watching the Redwings playoffs
and drove the resort staff crazy
staying in the pool past closing, drunkenly riding the shuttles,
stealing range balls, and smuggling glass bottles.
Joe&Jan&Mar&I spent one day conquering Disney World
and Elise&I spent one day exploring Universal Studios.
(primarily Harry Potter World, which was all that I'd expected.)
Cateline&Elise&I got some good outlet mall shopping in
and Horv&Matt&Erin&Joe&I gorged on Cici's Pizza Buffet
after ditching the pool mid-rain-storm.
It ended up being an excellent vacation...
despite some minor&initial hiccups
with good straight-shot drives there&back.
With every vacation
I realize more&more how amazing my best friend is.

BoardGames&Booze

This weekend was Easter and we decided to play board games before heading out to the bar with Joe & his buddies. I'd had lunch with some girlfriends earlier in the day, so I invited some of the girls to come out and meet us in Dearborn. We played Hedbanz and drank Two Hearted ...probably a little too  much since the bar is completely fuzzy and both Joe&I lost our wallets (and promptly found them in the morning). All in all - a successful Easter, I would say.
