Dinner & a Movie

I think it's incredible to remain connected with people I've known for so long. These girls & I have been friends since high school. The one in the middle I've known since we were toddlers. We may not see each other too often, but we keep in touch and try to see each other when we're able, so over Christmas Break we got together for dinner and a movie. Dinner was at the Grill House and we were joined by quite a few members of the old crew - Tyler, Sana, Georgia, Peg, and all of their significant others. For the movie the crew got a bit smaller as we headed to M89 to see American Hustle. No matter what we do - extravagant plans or super simple - it's so nice to know that there are simply people I have kept and who have kept me for all these years.

Transformers in Town

Downtown Detroit was hoppin' before the Lion's PreSeason Game

and after walking around for a while we finally figured out why.

I'm not gonna lie - I got awkwardly excited to see OptimusPrime.

Obviously a lot of other people were, too.

We got to see some cool parts of the set,

but it took a while to get the bar because of the crowds...

I guess that's one great thing about Detroit.

You never have to worry about traffic or herds of people, really.

But, I guess it's a good thing

and I guess it's what we really want for the city...

more people, more excitement, more success.

Giving&Dating

Target's FEED brand was released today.

Joe took me out on a day-date, which included lunch at Olive Garden, a trip to the movies - The Bling Ring - and shopping at Target&BarnesAndNoble where he bought me the denim vest to wear, The Pretty One to read, Oz - the Great & Powerful to watch.

I love love love it all.

My vest provided 24 meals and can also be added to just about every outfit in my closet. I can't wait to wear it - probably too often.

I feel very happy about the day - we got to enjoy a stress-free day together in the midst of this disappointing&frustrating month and did our part to "FEED USA" and keep the "Great American Bookstore" alive.

AA Weekend

Elise&I met for a movie in Ann Arbor.

Unfortunately the traffic coming into the city
was absolutely terrible,
so I headed to a bar by the theater
while I waited for her arrival.
I sipped Two Hearted
(from a waitress who looked just like my bunni)
and made friends with the older man next to me.
He'd sat down and quickly ordered
...knowing exactly what he wanted
I assumed he was a regular.
I struck up a conversation,
which continued once Elise arrived.
We talked about life&love&allthedeepstuff.
It was nice.
Finally, we saw Perks of Being a Wallflower.
After the movie
(that I love love loved)
we headed out to a Halloween Party
at a house where an old friend Nate was.
We raged with the best of them
...feeling like we were back in college again.
We had to walk back to the car very early in the A.M.

Clubs&Mirrors

I turned on my phone yesterday to a text: “I miss you.”
Compliments of my #bff.
I miss her, too.
Less than an hours drive away and we can barely find time for each other.
Two years ago at this time we’d be spending day after day in my big&warm president’s room watchin' movies and munchin.'
I miss those days so so so much.























This weekend at ArtPrize one of the stops was at the Women’s City Club in downtown Grand Rapids. A bunch of older, nicely-dressed women in a big, beautiful house with a chef and a fully stocked basement bar. I jokingly asked the two women outside selling warm pastries&drinks if I could join and they quickly told me about their dues&requirements. I was awkwardly excited at the concept of joining a women’s club.
I miss the camaraderie of organizations of people simply enjoying each other’s company.
I’d settle for a full 24 hours with my #bff for now, though.

...and just as I'm dreaming of clubs&organizations, Mr.U proposes we become members of the Henry Ford Museum. I'm sold...

Batman in IMAX

I’ve always thought that IMAX movies were a little over-rated.

A movie is a movie is a movie.

But, Mr.U, Bunni’sDad, and I all met at the IMAX for Batman: The Dark Night Rises yesterday afternoon and the experience was anything but over-rated. My heart was pounding with the bass that surrounded us in the theater and my eyes couldn’t get enough of the sweeping skyline views of Gotham on the gigantic screen. I had chills, tear-filled eyes, and a thumping chest throughout the whole movie.

Totally worth it.

Hands down.
