Ingrid in RO

Her Instagram
Joe&I went to dinner last night then saw Ingrid Michaelson perform
She's an amazing, quirky, free-spirited, genuine performer
and a pure pleasure to watch live.
Though I'm not completely sold on her new album,
the old classics were excellent and the atmosphere was perfection.
Girls Chase Boys Chase Girls
The Marquee
The lights were mostly purple (not that you can tell)...
The Stage&Backdrop before the Encore
A few of my current favorite lyrics:
"Did any of me stick at all?
Can you hear me singing through the walls?
There's a part of you that stays with me someone else gets to know.
Did any of me ever stick at all?"
-Stick
"Here we go, dancing on our own, inside this house that we have never known, never known.
Here we go, going in alone into the dark and wonderful unknown.
Let us go, let us go...
In the best way, you’ll be the death of me."

T. Swift

On Saturday morning I woke up with a hangover.
I laid in bed all day - trying to recover...
But one phonecall changed my mood entirely:
"Do you wanna come to Taylor Swift tonight!?"
Immediately I jumped in the shower
and started trying on red outfits
(as instructed by my BFF)
though I ended up settling on maroon
and rushed out the door to meet her
at her bofo's parents' house.
We hopped in the car and headed for downtown.
(The concert was at Ford Field.)
After circling for parking,
the girls escaped&photographed the tour busses
then headed inside to buy souvenirs before seating.
I was more then excited to discover that Ed Sheeran
was the opening act for Taylor.
I love love love him!
Apparently I need to listen to the radio more often,
cause lots of people love Ed.
After Ed, though, Taylor blew me away.
I felt like I was on an emotional high the entire concert
tearing up - smiling huge - singing along
...by far the best show I've ever seen...
and it was even more wonderful to enjoy with my BFF.
We squealed like 12-year-old girls at a BiebsShow
and swayed&danced to all her wonderful songs.
The show was simply amazing.
All the in-between portions were well-thought-out
and her mannerisms&personality were precious.
I definitely fell in love with T.Swift
...unexpectedly, I'll admit.
I very very very much want to see her again.
My favorite part was "All Too Well" on piano.
My heart was pounding.
My eyes were welling up.
My emotions were soaring.

Back To You

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do
I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much
than to drown in your love
and not feel your rain.

Set me free, leave me be.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

You loved me 'cause I'm fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone.

Set me free, leave me be.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see
that you're everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down
You're on to me, on to me, and all over...
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.

Home Office

I’ve been using my “home office” more often lately. I set it up one night when Mr.U&I were talking about his last master’s class and how he’d need to be on the computer all fall. Where the desk had previously sat was pretty inconvenient as a workspace, so I rearranged all the furniture.
He’s never once sat at it.
I – on the other hand – have been sitting there a lot lately. Scrolling through old pictures&poems, writing&journaling, and playing all the old playlists I’ve been neglecting on my computer. The desk was his grandmother’s and most of the trinkets on it are items I’ve collected through my years, so it feels historical&fun to sit there.
I like it.

My Side

So many lies are taking hold
It’s not your fault there’s many scars

I am on your side
It’s taken me a long time
I am on your side - I’m on your side

And I listen - Yeah I listen
Can you listen?
Now I’m listening

I am on your side
It’s taken me a long time
I am on your side - I’m on your side

(And I listen) I am on your side
(Yeah I listen) It’s taken me a long time
(Can you listen?) I am on your side
(Now I’m listening) I’m heading out tonight
(And I listen) I'm heading out tonight

Fergie Ferdiculous

Yes, I’m notorious for
watching the same movie over&over
– listening to the same song on repeat
entertaining myself with TV shows marathon-style
but I don’t think I could listen to the exact same 5-song playlist
.every.single.day.
Apparently, though, some people can.
The coworker in the cube next to me must have just discovered Fergie.
How?
I have no idea.
But every day
– blasting from her earphones –
are the same few Fergalicious songs from my freshman year in college.
Yes, I know that she’s promiscuous
and all that shit is fictitious
…blablabla…
but this is getting ridiculous!
How ‘bout some Pandora-style FergieFerg – spice up the dancathon a lil?

Hold On

Tell the swine we will make it out alive.
there’s a note in the pages of a book
So sleep tonight - we’ll sleep dreamlessly this time.
When we awake we’ll know that everything’s alright.
Sing to me about the end of the world.
end of these hammers and needles for you
Hold on to the world we all remember fighting for:
there's still strength left in us yet.
Hold on to the world we all remember dying for:
there's still hope left in it yet.

Mad World

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had.

I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take

When people run in circles
its a very
very
mad world
mad world.

No Hesitation

"The moment I said it
the moment I opened my mouth
lead in your eyelids
bulldozed the life out of me.
I know what you're thinking
but darling you're not thinking straight.
Sadly things just happen
we can't
explain.
It's not even light out
suddenly
you've somewhere to be.
No hesitation.
I've never seen you like this.
You're scaring me - You're scaring me - You're scaring me to death.
I'm losing you - I'm losing you.
Trust me on this one:
I've got a bad feeling.
Trust me on this one:
You're going to throw it all away
with no hesitation."
Imogen Heap - The Moment I Said It

Delicate Silence

I know people are trying to be nice&supportive,
but “I’m here for you” messages
that only come at the end of November
don’t mean much to me.

"So why do you fill my sorrow
with the words you've borrowed
from the only place you've known
And why do you sing Hallelujah
if it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?"

Damien Rice - Delicate
