Sleepy Pups

Our puppies play hard & sleep hard.
These little snugglers go crazy till they can't keep their eyes open
then crash as close as they can to whoever is nearest.
So silly&adorable.

Sleep&Sunshine

Mr.U is a pretty awful roadtrip buddy.
He falls asleep as soon as he hits the passenger seat.
(if I really need him – he’ll wake up and drive)
Reminds me of my bunni
she could never stay awake on roadtrips.
I don’t mind.
My sleepy passengers make me smile.
So did the sunrise this morning.

Popularity Court

I’ve had wild dreams lately. I can’t always remember them when I wake up, but last night’s I do remember and it was incredibly off-the-wall.
My high school had this thing called Snowcoming (our winter version of homecoming). I got on “Court” once in my career and the super catty girls – the ones who thought they were more popular than they actually were and cared more about popularity than the fun they had with their friends – all insisted there must have been a mistake. I’d been a part of that group for about a year – partying&rebelling – then I settled back down with the girlfriends I’d always been genuine with. (For the most part in highschool, I always jumped around – I had lots of friends who were always friends, but I floated from group to group or enjoyed my time alone.) ANYWHO, in my dream last night, I was in with the catty girls (a couple of whom I’ve recently run across on facebook) and we were shopping for alumna Snowcoming dresses. One of the girls, who I’d been closest with, was elected to Snowcoming Court and so was I. We spent hours running around shopping for dresses in my dream and our friend (who’s pregnant in real life) tagged along insisting that she’d be the Snowcoming Queen if she weren’t pregnant.
All the irritations of highschool burned my sleeping ears and when I finally woke up from the nightmare I was reminded how much I don’t miss the drama. Moments like those make me remember why I went through loner phases where I’d spend my evenings in the local coffee shop working on yearbook layouts instead of drinking stolen vodka from parents’ liquor cabinets. (Don’t get me wrong, I did plenty of that.) I never seemed to fall for the idea that the fight for popularity was actually worth the popularity and I think I turned out better without it.

K-O'ed

After a week without sleep, I seem to have done nothing but sleep for days. Three nights in a row I’ve been passed out on the couch for a solid 10hrs. Not a bad thing considering I caught a nasty cold somehow… I’d give anything for a couple days snuggled down with soup and hot chocolate instead of sniffling through another work day.My girlfriends had a fire in their fireplace for last week's Dessert&Revenge night – I wouldn’t mind nestling down by a fire, either.

Controlled Chaos

In the middle of my finals week with stacks of work at the office, final papers to complete, and group presentations to perfect, SLEEP has become an unnecessary luxury. After 3 hours at the library with Mr.U last night, I headed home, hungry with a headache, to catch a quick cat-nap before waking up for an early work morning. Alarm set: 5:08. Snuggled in the warmth of my Detroit Lion’s fleece I opened my sleepy eyes and peered across the far-too-lit room at my searing red clock digits. 7:48that CAN’T be right! Alarm still set – for PM. Damnit. Lucky for me, my lazy-winter-clothing choices has simplified the morning-dressing-game, so I sprinted to the car in my PJs and booked it to the highway. Flying at 80mph through my 30-minute commute, I dug out dress pants and a top from my back seat – I even found a real bra and slipped it on for a little professional-pick-me-up. 8:18 – I breezed through the office door past my smiling boss. (around here, 18 minutes late is almost equal to 10 minutes early.) AND, post-lunchbreak, I’ve finished two major work assignments and completed the rough draft of my group paper. Controlling the chaos one clock-check at a time.

Stressful Dreams

When I get stressed out, I dream crazy crazy things and sleepwalk all over the place. I’ve woken up in random rooms doing weird things like drinking from a gallon of orange juice or ripping pages out of a magazine – and when I don’t actually leave my bed, I dream the most vivid, intense dreams ever.
Lately, with the stress of college graduation apps, job hunting, and car shopping, I’ve dreamt that: Mr.U died in a car accident, I was attacked by a dog, my arch enemy was stalking me, and I knew I’d be dying in a few hours.
Not fun to wake up in a cold sweat 4 nights in a row grasping for anything solid&real that happens to be near me to assure that my life is fine and I’m going to make it.
I’m ready for things to settle down again.

Sleepy Heat

I’m beginning to believe that I’ll only be warm when I’m asleep.
And it'll only get worse from here.

I need to invest in a million bulky sweaters.
But I doubt they’ll help.
The person inside this body is simply always freezing.

Stinky Kisses

I simply don’t like morning kisses. I honestly never ever have.
Morning sex?
Yes.
A different story after teeth brushing or mouth wash using.
But simple morning kisses with nasty morning breath are absolutely anything but appealing to me. I feel like a meany when I avoid them, but someone coming at my cotton mouth with their stinky breath makes me want to jump out of my warm cocoon and kick them out of my space.
Snuggle away.
(if I'm feeling snuggly)
But save all face to face contact until you’ve gotten rid of that morning breath.
Please.

Sleep Accommodations

I have the most accommodating sleeping partner these days.
Last Sunday I was so wiped out from the weekend. After going out to lunch with friends, Mr.U and I settled in to watch the Lion’s game. Before the half was even over, I’d passed out. Flat on my back with my arms above my head – laying the wrong way across the bed with my feet hanging off. So, he finished the game and got dinner while I remained unconsciously taking over his sleeping space. When I woke up 11 hours after my eyes initially closed, he was curled in a ball trying to fit on the bed without any blankets. He felt too bad waking me in his own bed so he could sleep in a normal position.
Accommodating the sleeping girl.
Last night, he slept at my place. Even though I cocoon under a pile of blankets, I could still keep my room at 90 degrees and sleep like a baby. Mr.U gets hot. I woke up this morning all bundled up next to him while he was sprawled out with his blankets on the floor – dying of heat. Again, he felt bad waking me to open the window.
I need to become the accommodating sleeper.

NeedyGirl

I pride myself on never needing anybody. I’m not sure if it’s my “near death experience” of getting stranded in the downtown of a dangerous city with no phone or wallet that’s getting to me or simply the time of the month, but I’m feeling incredibly needy. Last night I re-organized my room for hours after walking the puppymonster and, once I’d finally made my comfy-queen-bed just the way I wanted it, I dreaded the idea of climbing in alone.
I love being alone.
I dislike not being alone.
I never want someone in my bed.
It’s my bed, not theirs.
I’m not a snuggler.
I’m not a bed-sharer.
But, right now, all I want to do is share my bed – nuzzle down under someone’s armpit and watch their chest rise&fall with each breath.
I never feel this way.
I don’t want things like that.
At this moment, though, I most definitely do.

SleepyGirl

I spent this weekend sleeping, which was incredibly necessary.

After work on Friday, I snuggled down in my bed and watched Hulu for 5hrs. Yep, I was supposed to go out, but I never un-snuggled. Saturday brought an early early morning photoshoot for a friend40 degree weather with minimal clothes and lots of running&jumping – but it was good for me and she needed a model. Then bridesmaids dress shopping for a friend’s wedding before a few hours of sewing & laundry. I did go out Saturday night with some guy friends, though – hooray for a few hours of social interaction. Spent Sunday sleeeeeeping.
Wake up – hang over barf – drink sprite – fall back asleep – wake up – watch TV – eat – fall back asleep – wake up – hang out with my roommatego to bed.
Good weekend, I’d say.

Sleepy Bunni

I'd give absolutely anything to wake up next to this beautiful face again.

"It tends to be assumed that someone living a mere 22 years doesn’t have too many life experiences to go off of. Sure, some crazy college stories and maybe a few less-than-tragic breakups, but not many people plan on gaining insight from a girl in her early 20s. I feel, though, that I’ve got quite a bit of the wonderful, the terrible, and the extreme under my belt for my age. The strangest thing about the death of my lover isn’t waking up without her every morning. It isn’t going to a movie with a group of friends and not having her hand to hold through the scary parts. It isn’t going to her apartment and seeing her empty bedroom or going back to her dad’s house and sleeping alone in the bed we shared. It isn’t thinking about the next 20 years of my life and realizing that I’ll never have a wedding with her or a child of hers. The strangeness comes when I look back on those three years in which she was always there."
