French Obsession

I really want to perfect the french language.
I really want to live in Paris or Quebec City.
I really want to reach some of my goals in life.
I'm addicted to shopping for french inspired items on amazon, too.

Polished Pals

All I want is the perfect shade of mint
...
all these colors and I just want mint.
I found my favorite at wal-mart the other day, then
awkwardly enough
realized I didn’t have any cash on me
so I had to pass on finally getting it.
Someday, I’ll get it.
I was inspired to take this pic of my polishes after my #bff posted a pic of hers. I remember our nail-painting days of two summers ago when we’d watch PLL, float around in the clouds, and paint our nails a different color every day. I miss those days.

Voting

I’ll be incredibly happy when the election is over. These political ads are driving me absolutely nuts. I’ve had to banish Mr.U to the basement so I don’t have to watch his endless hours of MSNBC. Buteven though I am sick&tired of hearing about it – I did most definitely cast my votes (however pointless they may have been). And it was not – by any stretch of the imagination – a simple task to accomplish. In order to receive my absentee ballot, I had to print&fill out a form then fax it to my mother who had to sign&deliver it to the clerk at my county courthouse. Had I not had her help, I’d have mailed it. I received my ballot in the mail about a week later. In the envelope inside the envelope was a secret ballot envelope and 2 pages of instructions. I’m not exaggerating … it took me about 2 hours to read&complete my ballot. But it was worth it. I may think politics are completely obnoxious and I’d rather tune everyone and their opinions out all the time, but I do think voting is a duty anyone who is able should complete.
Let’s see if any of my people won and how those damn proposals turn out.

GG Taping

The final season of Gossip Girl finally premiered on the CW last night. Unfortunately, Barbie was unable to watch it, so – in fear it wouldn’t be available for online streaming right away – I ghetto-recorded it for her on my laptop. Turns out, it’s on cwtv.com already this morning, so she doesn’t have to watch my low-quality video.
I hope she gets to watch it next week, so we can text&tweet about it from 9-10pm.

Hair Cycle

I have quite the cycle when it comes to washing&styling my hair.
I always (unless i'm braiding it for a crimpy, fancy look) wear it down right after washing (and maybe the next day with bangs pulled back, of course) then I have a sequence of styles for the following days including side braids, low ponys, high ponys, messy buns, and ballerina buns.
For some reason: braids were so summer, yet buns seem so fall.

Laundry Days

I’ve been doing laundry for days.
I’m the queen of letting it pile up till I have 5 loads to do.
Then I feel so incredibly satisfied when the pile is gone
and
my closet is all nice&organized again.

Den Pop, I love you.

The Den.
A staple in my college town.
Sweet “I Love The Den – Home of the Den Pop” t-shirts.
Denwiches piled high with toppings.
And HUGE fountain sodas for under $1.
I genuinely love The Den.
And seriously crave Den Pops.

Organized Beauty

I love when all my laundry is put away
- color coordinated -
and all my jewelry is hung properly.
Too bad I rarely have time to make it so perfect&beautiful.

Disappearing Act

I’ve said this before. It’ll always be true. Sometimes: I fall off the planet. Most times: for no reason except to disappear for a bit. I forget that I like to be social – that I have people I love to hear from – that my friends&family deserve my attention – and I simply fade away. Rarely do I intend to – I don’t thrive on the abandonment of others. But still, I tumble into an antisocial hole until something catches my glance one day and brings me back to the surface.
I don’t know if I feel like surfacing yet.
new home – new job – new surroundings
…a boyfriend to snuggle&distract myself with…
I find myself indescribably content sprawled out on the couch with a diet A&W and a good book to read. I nuzzle into one shoulder and forget the existence of all other shoulders. I tell my stories to the one I’m next to then put them in my memory bank. I suppose others would like to hear them. Well, actually, I know so. But I remain inside my nearly silent bubble.
I’ll be in there till it pops.
If you need me – know that I’ll wake up soon.

Liquid Meds

Mr.U dumped out my asprin and used this bottle to hold store something else Saturday night.
After sticking my finger in it in the dark and feeling liquid instead of medicine, I screwed on the cap and threw it out.
But I'd still like to know where all the pills went...

OliviaMonster

My parents came to visit me when I was living in Florida and the little condo they stayed in was so cute.
2 bedrooms
– 1 for them, 1 for my brother&I –
lots of brown&tan
I had to go to work while they were there, but I stayed with them as much as I could – partially because my house was at the peak of disgustingness thanks to my nasty roommates but mostly just because I’d missed them so much. My favorite stuffed animal, Olivia, kept them company while I was gone, which made my dad happy cause he has a fun, little habit of documenting his time with her and sending it to me for laughs. One morning, while I shoveled scrambled eggs onto people’s plates, I got this picture of her eating breakfast with dad in her new Walt Disney World t-shit. Yeah, we’re a dorky family, I guess, but it was cute. Their entire visit was so therapeutic and made me realize just how much I really missed home – I could sacrifice the endless days of sunshine to giggle with my family again.

Air Attack

I have this thing against the air.
I know it’s vital to my well-being, but I don’t like when things “touch the air too much.” Like food that has sat out for a little while – way too much air has touched it for me to want to eat. And bars of soap: surrounded by airinfested by air.
Or these containers I found on my bathroom counter this morning… that hair gunk has been touching the air all night. I feel like it would stick to my hair, pull things into my hair, wrap its air-infected livelihood around my strands of hair. And the tip of that drop bottle could go nowhere near my eye… there’s air all over it.
To each their own – of course. If air doesn’t bother other people, then – by all means – dip a big scoop out of that peanut butter jar whose lid has been half-screwed-on for days or scrub your teeth with the open-capped toothpaste. (I don’t even want to think about the fact that your toothbrush touched the caked-on paste surrounding the opening that’s been eaten-up and traumatized by the air.) Go right ahead and do- yo-thang with the air-filled consistencies of your life, but I myself will simply continue to stray away.
