Attitude Adjustment

I’ve had a poor attitude about my job for a while. I let little things like interruptions and immature outbursts get under my skin and irritate me till I can’t dig out the good anymore. But, I told myself to get a year of experience and – when I actually think about it – this place is not that bad.
I have flexible hours
casual dress-code
laid-back coworkers.
I’m good at my job – it’s pretty simple not too swamped.
I’ve already been given more responsibility and praise…
so I really need to adjust my attitude and stop dwelling on the things that bother me.
They aren’t worth getting worked up every day.
My job is good – my location is great – my mindset will be wonderful.

#BFF PoolDay

I was able to spend yesterday with my #bff – poolside, drinks in hand, underwater camera for underwater fun. We dug out whatever beer and wine coolers we could find and tried to mix a drink from her parents’ antique liquor cabinet (which ended up tasting awful). When the sun started setting we made salads for dinner and baked some cupcakes for a visit with her #djbf then ran into town for a peopleofwalmart adventure and buy hair highlighting supplies.
I got up early this morning to swing by home, pick up Mr.U, and kick-off another work week.

Tigers Vs. Rockies

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of watching Mr.U’s 2nd favorite MLB Team play our hometown Tigers with some great friends and beautiful weather. We started the afternoon off with drinking games in the backyard then piled into Mr.U’s mom’s Escape (VPBF&I squished in the way-back) and headed downtown. We stopped at a bar on our walk to Comerica Park – watching the beginning of the game on the bar’s tvs – then grabbed a couple beers before heading to our bleacher seats. Once the Tigers won, we nestled into our favorite table at Detroit Bar for some french fries, pitchers of beer, and faygo shots before making our way to Greek Town for dinner at Pegasus. After quite a bit of drama with the reservation and wait, we were seated and joined by even more wonderful friends for a delicious greek meal. We then started the long journey back to the casino to meet our ride home and pile back in the car. VPBF&I immediately drug ourselves upstairs for bed, but the boys stayed up most of the night playing card games and drinking beer.
Good night for all.

Organized Beauty

I love when all my laundry is put away
- color coordinated -
and all my jewelry is hung properly.
Too bad I rarely have time to make it so perfect&beautiful.

King's Birthday

This past weekend, Mr.U&I traveled north of the city to celebrate theKing’s birthday at Grill&Pool Party at his grandparent’s house. It, obviously, was a very low-key event, but a beautiful day nonetheless. I brought pasta salad, lime jell-o cupcakes, and Summer Shandy (my newest summer beer addiction). After a few drinks and a belly-full of food I passed out next to the pool while the boys sat around chitchatting and doing diving board tricks. Instead of heading to the bar that evening, we opted to stay in on theKing’s deck to play a Pokémon drinking game and snack on leftovers then head out for breakfast in the morning.

Margaritas&Calamari

I was supposed to go on a walk with my coworker after work yesterday – but she bailed last minute for free concert tickets, so my boss and I headed to bar, the Black Finn, down the street for drinks&yumyums while she waited to meet some friends in town.
We both had skinny-girl margaritas (minus the salt) ordered calamari&hummus for our two appetizers. The calamari was a little creepy to look at – full-bodied, tiny octopi in a light breading – so I avoided those pieces and we both agreed that the fried vegetables included in the platter were better.
I stayed a little too late, so I had to rush home to Mr.U, but it was a nice outting.
I always like to check out new places.

Practice&Beer

I got out of work early yesterday for a “dentist appointment” – and/or a trip to the Lion’s training facility for special, season-ticket-holder practice and meet&greet time. I was shocked by the amount of people who came out just to watch these players practice, but – despite the big crowd – it ended up being a lot of fun. We didn’t stay for the greeting part, which was basically the players walking through the lines of people for handshakes. So, instead, we headed to Dearborn to have dinner&drinks at Bailey’s. I had a hard cider to start off and an amazing plate of nachos while Mr.U enjoyed a burger an some craft brews.
Thanks, Lions, for the excuse for a nice date-day.

Members Friday

Friday nights off with Mr.U’s mom are always a good time. She tends to head over to the Knights of Columbus before us – her and her girlfriend like to get in, stake their claim at the aged bar, and start drinking before the crowd rolls in.
This past Friday, Mr.U&I walked over a bit later on the chilly, drizzling evening and nestled in between the girls and older male members who frequent on Fridays. It’s always nice to chit chat with family friends and enjoy a few drinks on mamaU. And the nights always end pretty blurry – cheap, strong drinks – and the last was no different… resulting in a search for my keys which remained hanging on the side door the next
morning.

BabyMomma Drama

We had a baby shower for the co-worker who’s been out on maternity leave since the week after I started. It was cute and simple – all those in our office brought a dish to pass and our boss bought jimmy john’s sandwiches.
Things took an awkward turn when the girls upstairs came down empty handed to partake in the festivities and the upstairs secretary was left out somehow, which really upset her. Our boss also skipped out before the party started for a last minute meeting, which was random.
A little bit of drama, but I think the new mother appreciated the effort and enjoyed her gifts.
