After work on Friday, I parked at the MGM Grand Casino self-parking structure then walked toward Greektown to meet Mr.U for dinner&drinks before the game.
We didn’t have a plan for food and he’d mentioned a couple of times that pizza sounded good, so we opted for PizzaPapalis and were seated in the furthest back seat in the restaurant (which required a long, winding journey to find). I’ll admit, I wasn’t excited for the “Detroit version” of deep dish pizza, but he was so excited, I couldn’t tell him “no.” We ordered a small (serves 2-3) with banana peppers and a pitcher of Miller Light. Impatiently, we waited the 45minutes and sipped our beers till the most delicious deep dish pizza I’ve ever encountered found our table. The cheese was creamy and the crust was crumbly. We devoured it – almost without taking extra seconds to breathe – and raved to the waitress, who complimented our completion of the pie. She mentioned, though, that – in the future – if we ordered too much, they’ll keep it in their refrigerator to pick up later. We may have found ourselves a new Game Day Tradition.
9 home games – 9 pizzas
…I could indulge in that.
